May 5, 1.982 Park Board Minutes
Page 3
Anderson said. he did`not think that would be a problem. He
stated the .site is`loeated north of .the nursing home and west
of Minar Ford. Area was purchased as a gravel p.it and is
presently designated park land. Because it is park land,
she. needs Park Board 'approval.
Van Hatten asked if there would be room for more than one
site.
Huttleston said the site could hold enough for two years of
leaves and possibly three..
Van. Hatten asked if the leaves have to be covered.
Huddleston said no. They are piled in 12 foot. rows. They
stay wet.
Van Hatten said most of'his leaves get bagged in the spring.
He keeps them over the winter for covering plants. Are there
provisions for grass clippings.
Huddleston said that is taken care of by the neighborhood compost
sites.
Carlson said it may be a good idea to have. two seasons when
leaves can be hauled; spring and fall.
Huddleston said it is a possibility.. The haulers are offering
there services now, later they may not be.
Olson said she didn't think people would mind paying ,for leaves
to be picked up.
Huddleston said in Roseville it costs about $3 per household.
Van Hatten asked if other sites were being considered..
Huddleston said not now,. neighborhood sites are being used.
Carlson asked if there was a fire danger.
Huddleston said it is gravel ground. In literature she has read
it states the leaves stay wet, they smoke but do not burn. If
it were a dry summer they would have to be wetted down a few times.
Motion by Van Hatten., seconded by Olson, to approve the compost
site at the old gravel pit location in .Innsbruck North... Motion
passed..
Huddleston said she has some garden sites she would like
approved also.: Thexe are two sites being considered by Hansen
Park between two homes. They are empty lots.
