May 5, 1982 Park Board Minutes <br />Page- 4 <br />Anderson said it is a low swamp-like area by 13th Ave. The <br />other site is across from Emerald Apartments. It is a piece <br />of land cut. off from the rest of the park. by swamp. No trees, <br />no good grass. We could turn over the two sides at least <br />temporarily. <br />Grimshaw asked how .close the sites were to homes.: <br />Anderson said both of the homes that-are. close have agreed to <br />it - they would like to use it. <br />Van Hatten asked if water was available. <br />Huddleston said no - they'll have to bring their own, <br />Motion by Van Hatten, seconded by Dahl, to approve the <br />community garden sites near Hansen Park. Motion passed. <br />Huddleston said the next site is located at Creekview Park. <br />Tt is a wet land on top of the hill, <br />Carlson said that it would be a key vandalism area:, <br />Huddleston said it.is'not,~real obvious from.-the street. <br />Olson said there are slot of bikers that go .through there.. <br />Gunderman said the gardeners would have to deal. with that. <br />Carlson said that it .may come back to the Park Board with <br />people complaining. <br />Van Hatten asked if Huddleston had determined how much <br />garden space was needed. <br />Huddleston responded that the Hansen site was already full. <br />Van. Hatten said he doesn't particulary like this site. <br />Anderson said it is .not as good a site as the others. <br />Johnson asked if there would be a fence to protect the <br />garden from .animals. <br />Huddleston ..said not immediately. <br />Gunderman asked where Huddleston's grant came from <br />Huddleston responded from the PCA. <br />Motion by Van Hatten, seconded by Dahl, to provisionally <br />approve the community garden site in the open area (intersection <br />of Mississippi and Silver Lake Road) at Creekview Park only as <br />a back up. Motion passed, <br />
