ACULT ACTIVITIES (CONTINUED
Bridge Lessons
PAGE 2
We stopped lessons due to lack of facilities combined with a very
low interest.
YOUTH
Gymnastics
This program has been offered for many years. When we've had changes
with instructors we've had changes in the numbers participating.
Last year we were starting to build. the .program again when the publicity
on the serious injury of an Trondale gymnast occurred and we believe
had some effect on registration. We have always offered a two day a
week program and felt that since. the fee was getting higher than most
could afford, we offered both a two day a week and a one-day a week.
option this fall. This has helped increase the number of participants.
Since the one day offering was well received, we will continue to
offer both options.
Skating Lessons
This program ties heavily with what numbers of youth, ages 6-7, that are
residing in our community during a given year and the severity of
the weather before the class starts.
Speed Skating
Several years ago there was a strong local group of parents interested
in speed skating. Since their kids have grown up, the decrease was
dramatic. The program is linked to the Northern Lights Program so
we have continued to offer it even though there are only a few interested..
because those that are interested are enthusiastic and appreciate our
program versus having to travel. to another community.
T-Ball
Tied into youth population, this program has remained pretty consistent
in numbers each year. 1983 added a level with a pitching machine so
this helped increase the numbers slightly.
Youth Softball
There was a slight decrease in both.
partly due to the increase of other
divisions. There has also been some
coaches so we may change some parts
the youngest and oldest divisions
sport activities for both of those
problem of finding volunteer
of this program next year.
Kaleidesco~e
This-was a new set of programs planned to possibly pick up some of the
slack that exists due to the changes in summer school. It was a new
concept and most classes did not run. By some comments from. residents
it appeared that part of the problem .was that they no longer planned
vacations in August only, so they did not want to sign up fora six
week program knowing that they would be gone for possibly two of the
six weeks.
