` NEW BRIGHTON .PARK BOARD .MINUTES DECEMBER 7, 1983 I. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Chairman Gunderman. II. Members present were: Carlson,. Dahl, Grmshaw, Gunderman, Hogan,, Olson, Solberg, Others present: Ken .Simons., Ramsey County Architect; John Kelley, Police Chief; LeAnn Linder, Wellness .Consultant..; Joann Knuth, Long Lake Advisory Committee; John Schultz, Long Lake Advisory Committee,. Pam Schmitz, Program Supervisor, Jim Skiba, Park Superintendent. III. Minutes Minutes of the November 2, 1983 meeting were approved as submitted. IV. Correspondence A. Council Report Blomquist reported that the Council approved the purchase. of picnic equipment for Meadow Wood and Hansen Park. The City will be selling some land south of County Road E2. Ed Ross is proposed as Board Manager for the Rice Creek Watershed District. The Golf Course clubhouse addition was approved, A study on space needs at City Hall is being done. Remodeling is a possibility. Cable television negotiating is taking place now. There will be a delay in when it will actually be available. B. Long Lake Advisory Committee No discussion V. New Business A. Long Lake Park Use Ordinance Anderson stated that. at the last Park Board meeting the Park Board had requested a joint meeting with the .Long Lake Advisory Committee and Ramsey County to discuss park hours, skiing,. etc. If the Board feels there need to be changes, now is the time to take action. John Kelley, New Brighton Police Chief, expressed concern with who will be doing the patrolling of the park regarding snowmobiles, etc. Ken Simons, Ramsey County, stated the County is relinquishing the policing to the City according to the ordinance. As far as snowmobiling, the County has jurisdiction. Snowmoblers must have an-access to the lake surface. If there is an access point, the Long Lake Park can... be added to the Ramsey County list of parks in the ordinance.
