How would people know if it is park property.
Anderson is would be on the lot line between houses. They would
not know if it were park property but nothing is planned for that
area.
Rick wriskey, City Forester was present and explained the plans
for plantings. 14 different species of trees were planned, a
total of around 135 trees. Plan to plant-about 100 hardwoods
this spring. A neighborhood planting day is planned in the. spring -
notification of exact day will come at a later time. In planting,
the purpose is shade and screening. The plan is not concrete,
things can be changed if necessary. Don't want to have a wall of
shrubs on property line so the view of park. would. be blocked. The
park will have alot of fall coloring.- Haven't had much success
financing evergreens. Need at least 5 foot trees and the cost is
high. Plantings will be done in stages.
A resident said he-does not like to look at the shopping center.
Wriskey stated he didn't ,want to shrub off the area completely.
A resident asked if the path to the tot lot would be paved.
• Anderson said it is planned.
A resident asked about the pond.
Anderson said it is intended. to hold water during heavy rain fall.
It is not expected to stay - it should drain.
A resident .asked if lights for the park were planned.
Anderson said no. Park closes at 11:00 pm but not much use after
sundown,
A resident asked if there would be any league play on the. ball field.
Anderson ~a.id~ the most intense use it would get would be a possible
T-Ball game. Considering putting in aglime but mainly because it
is easier to flood over for a rink in the winter.
Anderson said one major wooden play apparatus is planned. Cost is
about $15,000 but lasts indefinitely. Play equipment area would
be enclosed with wood beams and sand. Tot lot will have easy
access. The southern part of the park will have one sand volley-
ball court and a hard court area .with basketball standard. (Trying
to keep active area close to the shopping. center.
