December 4, 1985 Park Board Minutes <br />Page 2 <br />A status report from PCA shows from water studies that some <br />of New Brighton's old wells are starting to show signs of <br />contamination (1 part per billion) though the contamination <br />is not of great concern now, it does. add some urgency for a <br />new well. honeywell is adding sample wells to pinpoint <br />sources of contamination. The hope is that within the next <br />several months they can zero in on the sources of the problem. <br />Gunderman made the comment that he thought the Planning Commission <br />made a good decision on rejecting the waste plant. <br />Van Hatten disagreed. He saw the Red Wing facility. and was <br />impressed with it. <br />B. Long .Lake Advisory Committee <br />Light attendance for the meetings was discussed. Johnson <br />said there was talk of the Irondale cross country ski team <br />making trails at Long Lake Park. Anderson said they will <br />be set tomorrow. <br />Johnson asked if they could set trails at the golf course. <br />Anderson said they could but he doesn't think they would <br />be interested in doing so. <br />Johnson asked if the city could use their equipment to do <br />so. <br />Anderson said that's a possibility. <br />Benke said he had requests for ski trails at Long Lake Park <br />and also for a skating rink on Long Lake. Anderson said the <br />rink won't be possible this year. <br />Seward jokingly said he had a request for a bridge from <br />14th Ave. NW to Long Lake Park. <br />Gunderman said he is serious about the bridge. It would be <br />foolish if we don't look into it. <br />Anderson said Ramsey County could be asked to contribute <br />toward it. <br />MOTION BY GUNDERMAN, SECONDED BY OLSON, TO ASK RAMSEY COUNTY <br />TO PURCHASE THE VACANT LOT AT THE NARROWS AND BUILD A PEDESTRIAN <br />ACCESS TO THE PARK. SEWARD NAY, MOTION CARRIED. <br />V. New Business <br />A. Discussion - Comprehensive Plan Meetings <br />Anderson said he compiled a list of concerns tabulated from <br />the meetings which-the Park Board received a copy of. <br />
