July 29, 1985 Park Board Minutes
Page ~
Farber stated that the amphitheater area had to be graded
whethex it is actually put in or not so why not include it
in the bid. We .are offering an option to the City which
wasn't originally there. If the area is left ungraded, it
will look like a bowl.
Gilyard stated bath entrances are equal. Can look at more
landscaping on the parking lot side. When would the Park
Board like the architects to come back incorporating these
ideas?
It was decided the Park Board would meet with the Planning
Commission on August 20th.
No motion regarding the City Hall plans; let the minutes
reflect the discussion.
B. Discussion of City Well
The Park Board commented that the tour of the well was appreciated.
Les Proper, City Engineer, handed out some general information
relating to the New Brighton wells. After discussion of the
handout information, Proper gave four options.
1) Construction of a primary well #13 at Hidden Oaks
Park (including iron removal). Estimated construction
cost $950.000.
2) Construction of peaking well #13 on Old Highway #8
south of I-594, exact site undetermined. Estimated
construction cost $1,100,000.
3) Construction of a peaking well #13 at Hidden Oaks
Park (no iron removal). Convert well #$ to primary.
well by installation of second iron filter in well
house #11 and construction of raw water line. Estimated
construction cost $850,000.
4) Same as Option #3 with peaking well #13 constructed
near Old Highway #8 north of I-694. Estimated con-
struction cost $1,000,000.
The gravel pit area could be another option but it is too close
to the other well.
It was asked if 29th Ave. could be closed off and a bike path
put in. It wouldn't go aver well with the residents in the
area or the church.
If the well was placed at Hidden Oaks it could be placed way back.
Anderson said he liked Option #3. Total cost is good and it has
less impact on the park and the community. Feel the iron re-
moval at Hidden Oaks would have a negative. impact on the park
and the community.
