July 10, 1985 Park Board Minutes Page 4 <br />V. New Busines <br />A. Discussion of Potential New City Well at Hidden Oaks <br />Les Proper had a conflict and was unable to be at the Park Board <br />meeting. The item will be on newt month's agenda. <br />B. 1985 Goals Update, 1986 Goals <br />Anderson went over the 1985 goals and their progress. <br />The 1986 Goals and Objectives were also discussed. Some <br />of the goals were: <br />Hansen lighting project and fitness court - near <br />completion <br />Upgrade turf - weed control <br />Senior programs doing very well, real gratifying. <br />Trying to come up <br />Programming - will be lacking at fees and haw <br />competitive we are with other communities. <br />Plan to go to the council and request a half <br />time secretary/program person to work with <br />the seniors program. Salary would be fee supported. <br />Golf Course - want 10~ level, we should do that <br />this year. <br />Forestry - beautify entrance areas. Tree disease <br />control - article in St. Paul paper mentioned <br />New Brighton and Mounds View as two of Ramsey <br />County Cities that still have the most aggressive <br />tree disease removal & replanting program. <br />Residents are getting a goad deal with the joint <br />New Brighton/Mounds View project. <br />Eichers said the donating project is great too. <br />Seward said the forester is a great guy. <br />Benke asked about the joint powers nursery status. <br />Anderson said we have about 200 trees to take out <br />in 2-3 years. The Tree Trust that did mast of the <br />work has slowed down because of lack of funding. <br />We will get about $5,000-$6,000 in trees out of it. <br />Benke said he would like to have a list for the August Park Board <br />meeting of Park Board members who will be scheduled at the <br />neighborhood park meetings. <br />Anderson went through the Implementation Plan. <br />Anderson said four of the shelter buildings will be renovated <br />inside and out. More insullation will be put in, The work will <br />be done in-house and cost will be about $4,000-$5,000 per building. <br />Benke asked the status of lighting for the Irondale ball field. <br />Anderson said that died with the bond issue. Feasibility Study <br />is completed. <br />
