February 6, 1985 Park Board Minutes <br />Page 5 <br />Johnson said the split doesn't seen logical, the city should <br />awn t'he west portion. <br />Anderson said when you actually look at the site it looks like <br />a natural split, but on paper it does not, <br />Van Hatten asked if the City acquired the land, would it be a <br />detriment to the homeowner. <br />Hedlund said he didn't think the sale of the land would be a <br />detriment to a new homeowner because it would have no value to <br />that ;person. He also added that he would not consider selling the <br />land ,for $700. <br />Van Hatten asked if the property was a liability. <br />Hedlund said the creek is not that deep, a fence cou~.d be put up. <br />Van Hatten stated he felt the City should own that piece of property. <br />Carlson asked him what the city gains by it. <br />Van Hatten said nothing but to make the property distinctions <br />mom obvious . <br />Carlson said the property is worthless in terms of park land.. <br />Hedlund said it is worth slot. It is fished in, it is an asset. <br />Seward said. it's only a liability... <br />Berke said the Council did not make any recommendation. The <br />question is, is it worth our while to buy it for park value. <br />MOTION. BY VAN HATTEN TO RECOMMEND THE CITY PURCHSE ALL THE. <br />LAND UP TO 10 FEET FROM THE HOUSE.. <br />MOTION DIED FOR LACK OF A SECOND. <br />MOTION BY JOHNSON, SECONDED BY SEWARD, TO AC4UIRE UP TO THE <br />CENTER OF THE CREEK AT A REASONABLE, MUTUALLY AGREEABLE, PRICE. <br />MOTION CARRIED. CARLSON OPPOSED. <br />Hedlund stated he will probably need a variance for the driveway <br />but he doesn't think. it would be a problem. <br />Anderson told Hedlund he would be in touch with him to discuss <br />the price with him and with the City Attorney.. <br />C. Gayle Bromander -- Historical Society. <br />Bromander stated the Historical Society had recently met, He <br />wanted to come before the Park Board just with .information, no <br />action. required. ,The museum was the topic of discussion. The <br />Historical Society currently has a lease agreement. to relocate <br />at the maintenance building site which is the ritiu.s.dum's current.. <br />location.
