Staff <br />recommended that the site p]an show provisions for more <br />parking spaces. <br />Chairman Williams asked why the expanded parking was not <br />shown to the north of the existing parking lot. <br />Staff stated that soils tests for this area showed very <br />bad soils that would make parking spaces to the north <br />costly to construct and maintain. Staff had also been told <br />that the proposed future parking spaces along the east line <br />of the parking lot would interfere with the ball diamond. <br />Representative Blomquist asked how much it would cost to in- <br />stall one more row of parking to the north. <br />Bab Pierce, architect far the project, stated the future park- <br />ing spaces could be constructed if a portion of 3rd Avenue NW <br />was vacated and the ball diamond was moved further east. <br />Damon Farber, landscape architect for the project, stated it <br />would cost approximately $350 per parking space north of the <br />existing parking area. <br />Chairman Williams asked if the proposed parking . <br />of the existing lot would interfere with the playing area of <br />the existing ballfield. <br />Mr. Farver stated it would and that the ballfield is already <br />undersized. <br />Commissioner Livingston stated it would be less costly to put in <br />more parking now than to come back and rip up the curbing to put <br />in more parking later. <br />8:53 P.M.- <br />9 : 10 P.
