.SP-]27, LP-185
Page 5
Currently there is adequate parking at City Hall. Qnly on those
days when Ramsey County has especially heavy court agendas is there
overflow parking of about 10 to 15 cars on adjacent steets. Qn-street
parking is available an 5th Avenue NW and 8th Street NW. The proposed
site plan shows 64 parking spaces, eight mare than exist now, with a
provision for 13 more parking'.spaces along the east end of the parking
lot.
STAFF SUMMARY
The expansion of City Hall is greatly needed to alleviate crowding in
the existing building and to enable City staff to continue to efficient-
ly service. the community. The construction of the facility with a
prominent profile along 5th Avenue NW wi]1 hopefully encourage other
projects in the "downtown" area. The City Hall expansion is consistent
with the Comprehensive Plan, the B-4 zoning and the special use standards.
Tt must be realized that City Hall will in most probability require ad-
ditional parking in the future, beyond the 64 spaces now proposed.
Therefore, any approved pans for City Hall and Veterans Park should
take into consideration a possible future parking lot expansion to the
north ar east of the current parking lot.
