In addition, Y to swimmin <br />are anaroboat launches thatltheoCityeshouldnbe apprised of. <br />areas <br />1, According to Mr. Del Barber, Metro--Region Trails and <br />Water~nrays Coordinator for the Department of Natural <br />Resources (DNR), DNR encourages the clustering of public <br />services and "expects" that a boat launch be located <br />next to a swimming beach if a municipality has both <br />facilities. <br />DNR has a blanket permit from the Corps of Engineers <br />and standard plans for boat launches that meet the <br />permit requirements. These are availab~-e by contacting <br />him at (61.2) 296--0191. <br />~. According to Ms. Mary Marx, Environmental Protection <br />Specialist with the Corps of Engineers, a permit to <br />construct a launch is not required unless the construction <br />involves the placement ar removal of more than 10 cubic <br />yards of material. Normally, na permit is required when <br />the launch consists of a pre-cast plank installed an a <br />gravel base. <br />Design questions and permit requirements can be directed <br />to her at (612) 725--5819 (ext. 7712) . <br />3, 1 have attached copies of the fallowing regulations, <br />which pertain to boat launches and swimming beaches, <br />generally: <br />(a) Minn. Ru~ 1-es X6110.1600 (1983) defines the require- <br />ments tar marking swimming areas. <br />(b) Minn. Rules y61~_5.O190 allows placement of a <br />beach sand blanket without a permit, if the <br />regulations are met. <br />
