July 2, 1986 Park Board Minutes
Page 7
Johnson said the Silver Oak hard court could be added to 1988.
Johnson said another area that had been talked about was a
tunnel under Long Lake Road to the park. We said we'd bring
the discussion up again when Long Lake Road was due for
improvements. It could be put in 1989 CIP.
Anderson asked Williams when the south end of Long Lake Road was
budgeted.
Williams said 1988 but more likely 1989. The Long Lake bridge
is also scheduled to be upgraded.
Johnson said maybe there wouldn't be any cost to put a tunnel
in.
Anderson said if there are signals at the intersection, a tunnel
will not be necessary.
Anderson said it could be put in the CIP and check with Les
on-the cost.
Johnson said yes let's put it in.
Anderson said he would put it in as Long Lake Road crossing.
It is possible that the county would put it in when the road is
upgraded. It is a county park.
Anderson asked the Park Board their feeling. about the shelter
building and lights at Silver Oak. Meadow Wood doesn't have
lights or building either. If we do one, we may have to do the other.
Eichers asked if the building maintenance would be substantial.
Anderson said it's pretty maintenance free. The construction is
where the expense is.
Anderson said Silver Oak is a tough park for a shelter building
because of the layout and no parking. Not sure we will get that
much use to justify it.
Williams asked what the shelter cost would be.
Anderson said about $150,000.
Williams asked if it would get summer use also.
Anderson said a building can always be used but we don't have
hockey games there or ball games.
Williams asked if a fabricated building would be possible - removed
in the summer.
Anderson said buildings can be rented.
