January 7, 1987 Park Board Meeting Page 5 <br />Johnson said this is real exciting, this has <br />never come up at the Park Board before <br />MOTION BY OLSON, SECONDED BY ROSE, TO APPROVE <br />THE CONCEPT OF THIS PLAN. MOTION CARRIED. <br />Judy Goepel said this beautification project <br />had hopes of getting a sense of community pride <br />going. <br />Pat said that one of the things .that we should be <br />thinking about is where to put the Centennial Garden <br />Anderson said the heavy traffic island. areas may not <br />be good because Ramsey County may have to be <br />involved and that complicates the process. <br />Hansen Park would be a good place, there is a lot <br />of traffic through there. <br />Pat suggested somewhere on Silver Lake Road. <br />Pat said that perhaps someone from the Centennial <br />Commission and the Park Board would want to have ' <br />a brainstorming session. <br />Olson said Atonement Church may be interested in <br />having the garden on their property.. <br />Someone else suggested the church on 16th St. and <br />Silver Lake Road. <br />Pat asked if she should look for site on her own <br />or get others to help find a site. <br />Anderson said if it is on private property, the Park <br />Board does not have to be involved. <br />Johnson said he would like to see it on park or <br />City property. <br />Pat said next month she will come back to the <br />Park Board with some options for the site. <br />Carlson said he is excited about this idea but is <br />concerned about the vandalism problem. Perhaps <br />Pat could. make a presentation to the City officials <br />before she chooses a site to see if there are any <br />problems. <br />
