Fulton <br />City Manager <br />City of New Brighton <br />803 Fifth Avenue N.W. <br />New Brighton, MN SS112 <br />Dear Mr. Fulton: <br />Tel: 612-777-1707 <br />Fax: 612-777-6519 <br />Thank you for the letter of March 23, 1994 regarding the Rice Creek West Regional Trail. <br />offer the following responses to the questions in your letter: <br />1) The Silver Lake Road crossing will be signed and marked in accordance with details on <br />sheet 13 of the trail plan. <br />2) Four options were considered for the trail initially: Mississippi Street, Rice Creek, the <br />railroad right-of--way and County Road H. The railroad option was selected by the New <br />Brighton City Council. The minutes of the meeting do not elaborate on the reasons for that <br />choice. <br />2. a.} Traffic counts: Mississippi Street (City Street, traffic counts should be supplied by City <br />Engineer) <br />County Road H (Stinson-Silver Lake Road) 3,000/day <br />County Road H (Silver Lake Road -Long Lake Road) 5,550/day <br />2. b.) Railroad traffic: One train per day is normal, however not necessarily every day. <br />Occasionally, one train runs at night. The future use is anticipated to remain the same. <br />(Per telephone conversation with Wayne Hall on March 24, 1994.) <br />2. c.) We do not have the expertise to evaluate the track condition; however, the railroad <br />company is responsible for maintaining safe tracks and facilities. <br />2. d.)
