October 6, 1993 Park Board Minutes
in 1994 turf, tree and shrubs will be planted. No equipment will be
installed the first year. There are not many options as where things
will go because of the topography.
When the playground equipment goes in, we will alert the residents.
We will have proposals and you can pick which proposal you would
like.
During the winter, December or January, we will have a tentative
planting plan. The plan will be given to residents to look at and
change if necessary.
Eichers asked if there would be one or two tennis courts. Anderson
said one, if any.
~'~
Olson inquired if a tennis court was needed. Some are not very busy.
Anderson said that most are busy during peak times.
Trevorrow mentioned that if this soccer field will not be regulation
size, there will still be no regulation size soccer field in New Brighton.
Residenf Burleson stated she and six or seven others have their back
yards abutting the park. She turned in a 'petition opposing the path
that would run through the park. She felt there is no reason for a path,
-especially an 8 foot one. There is a big area there for teenagers to
.gather and she does not want that.
A resident stated that his home had 7 broken windows and his
snowmobile and trailer had been disconnected from his car. He is
concerned that cars could drive on the path and kids would gather
there.
Resident Louie Mitteo asked who will benefit from the path.
Olson stated the 8 foot path is necessary for maintenance vehicles to
drive on and for pedestrian and biker safety. Anderson added for
watering of shrubs and other plantings.
Burleson felt that an 8 foot path was not necessary if the only reason
was for a maintenance vehicle to drive down it occasionally.
Resident Terese Thell said she would like to see the park as low key as
possible. She is opposed to the tennis court. She does not want to
see any more trees down in the park. There are courts at trondale.
Anderson stated that we may not have to go into the berm to lay the
path.
Thell said she would rather see the money put into trees.
