October 6, 1993 Park Board Minutes
4
A resident suggested using crushed limestone, if it needs to be 8 feet,
because it would be more natural.
A resident asked if there has been anything done to assess the needs
for this park, other than the loudest voice.
Anderson said there is no science used. We look at the entire system.
We desperately need another soccer area. We have money set aside.
We look at the cost. Right now the money in the budget won't cover
everything but over several years it could be done. We look at system
wide and the budget. Decisions are generally not based on petitions or
the loudest voice.
Burleson asked even if you got 6 or 7 people who were most affected
by the path?
Anderson said there are people living in New Brighton who like to just
walk. They go out looking for paths to walk on.
A resident said but there is no need for an 8 foot path.
Resident Gloria Peluso said she wants a nice, low key park. Want a
safe access. Don't want to infringe on other's property:. -..She supports
the tennis courts. Do not want a high.. use park.
A resident asked if there couldn't be a 4.-foot limestone_ path just for
walking.
A resident said there are little kids in the area and if you don't have a
pathway they will be in the backyards.
Resident Johnson felt uncomfortable when a neighbor walked by her
home with her child. Want it safe but also wants her privacy. Can
see her kitchen and family room from the path.
A resident inquired if the Park Board would put in shrubs to help
screen.
Anderson said yes, we will do all we can to help with screening.
Resident Dan Johnson said he has concerns about the park and he put
them in a letter lwhich he handed to the Park Board). He is concerned
about privacy. People will have a direct view into the bedroom and
bath. Would like it if you could minimize the impact for us. Would like
to leave the berm.
Anderson asked the residents on 12th not to dump grass clippings in
the berm area. Keep the berm clean.
Resident Betty Johnson said cut into the berm as little as possible.
