October 6, 1993 Park Board Minutes 7
A resident said it is nice to have another way to walk out of the park
other than the way you came in.
A resident suggested that a path be phased in and it could be added
later.
Anderson said he likes to do paths and the plantings first because they
are .messy to put in.
A resident expressed concern about the material used for the path.
Crushed rock would be fiine but blacktop will stick out.
Kinzie added that once. there is a path, people tend to stay on it.
Another resident expressed concern with blacktop.
Trevorrow said the plantings would help.
Resident Johnson asked if it could. be a cement path.
Anderson said that is very expensive.
Kinzie added that staff people; Rick and Maurie bend over backwards
to help.
Resident Parviz said he would speak for the people who were not in
attendance; some of the residents who would be living in the condos.
He called them the soft voices. They like the soccer field and they are
in favor of the tennis court.
Eichers said only two or four people can use a tennis court at one
time. Basketball can have many people.
Resident Thell inquired about the installation and maintenance cost of
a tennis court.
Anderson said maintenance is not a problem, but they are expensive to
install. The volleyball court may be relocated to the play equipment
area.
A resident said he doesn't see the need fora 20 car parking lot;
maybe 10 car.
Carlson said we did not create the shape of this park. We have to
develop.the park for the whole community. Want to put in as much as
you want. Have found that vandalism and crime have gone down
when parks have been developed. The park will be an amenity to your
property. Most of the concerns we heard on what would happen if we
put in the Pike Lake Trail were not valid. The forester will bend over
backwards to help.
