October 7, 1992 Pazk Board Minutes
* Children's play area away from homes
* No parking lot or bike rack
* Tennis court (maybe one)
* Natural area -eastern end of park
* No softball field (no lights)
* No picnic tables
* Casual walking
* Some trees
* Flat, grassy area for catch, frisbee, etc.
The Park Board invited the residents to visit Meadowood Park - it is
comparable in size.
Anderson discussed what generally .goes into parks.
3
* No picnic tables wanted but they may go in any way
* Problems can arise if not managed properly - no outside groups would
be allowed there if park land is not large enough
* Park shelter would not likely be put in - no hockey rinks - maybe a free
skating rink (but no lights), perhaps a pole with lights and a timer
* Tennis court -generally we have enough. 5 parks with courts; 6 at
Highview, 6 at Irondale, 2 at Pike Lake, 2 at Hidden Oaks, 2 at Hansen
2 at Silver Oaks and at Totem Pole
Anderson asked if neighbors wanted a basketball court.
The answer was probably yes.
Residents expressed concern re: parking problems for a tennis court.
Anderson said it has not been a problem. The residents hoped trees would
not be sacrificed.
Anderson said nothing is concrete yet. The tennis courts may not end up
where they are on -the current map. Anderson recommends one tennis
court.
The berm area was discussed by residents whether it should be maintained
or kept natural. The park doesn't have to be elaborate -keep as natural as
possible. Anderson said some parking will probably be needed, he
suggested parking on the south edge of the park.
Anderson commented that the excavator has been directed not to approach
berm.
The preliminary .grading plan is available at City Hall. That plan does not
have the berm at its present height. Originally 6-7 feet, now 10-12 feet
high.
