May 6, 1992 Park Board. Minutes
3
Olson commented that it might be a good idea to somehow tie the
golf course and the driving range together, i.e. after 5 rounds of
golf you would receive a coupon for a free bucket of balls at the
driving range.
Anderson thought that was a good idea.
Trevorrow heard that the junior golf passes went up in price for
the 1992 season.
Anderson said that any increases are kept competitive with other
golf courses. We cover our costs and still try to be competitive.
Anderson encouraged him to call Mary Burg at the clubhouse if
there was any question on the increase.
B. 1993 - 97 CIP
The CIP plan .needs to be finalized in June.
Anderson described the process of reprioritizing items as
necessary, then it goes to staff and department heads and then on
to the council.
Anderson encouraged the Park Board to go to the parks and bring
a note pad to mark things that could be replaced or changes that
may be necessary.
Benke added that it is also a good time to talk with parents and
users in the park to get their ideas and input.
Carlson said residents like to know that the Park Board is
interested in their ideas.
Benke said he thought having neighborhood park meetings was a
good idea but he is aware that attendance was poor. He
encouraged the Park Board to try again.
Knuth inquired of the CIP process and how items were chosen,
etc.
Anderson said some are by request or demand. The process is
informal. We revisit the CIP annually.
Benke said we usually try to coordinate investments. As an
example if we are doing planting, we would do all the parks.
Anderson stated that most of the projects are funded by the Long
Lake Park sale proceeds.
