November 6, 1991 Minutes <br />Anderson said some legislators feel it may be easier to fund this in 1993 than in <br />1992. <br />Olson said that may be easier because we are trying so hard to meet the time <br />line. It is interesting to be on this task force - it's a neat concept. <br />V. New Business <br />A. Discussion of Property of Park Purposes <br />Anderson said at the last meeting it was decided to bring this item back again in <br />November. If the Park Board is interested in this property he suggests calling a <br />meeting to let the residents in the area know we are considering this piece of <br />property for park purposes and give them an opportunity to respond. If their <br />response is favorable, send it on to the Council. <br />2 <br />Anderson said the realtor told him the house has been taken off the market. This <br />may be to the City's advantage. The realtor thinks we are the best option for the <br />property. The asking price is $240,000. There is 2 1/2 - 3 acres with a house <br />on the property. The house has been neglected. The property could be used for <br />people stopping off from canoeing. <br />Johnson asked how big Meadow Wood Park is. Anderson responded about 2 1/2 <br />- 3 acres. <br />Johnson said maybe the City could abate the taxes in exchange for the property. <br />Kinzie thinks this should be pursued; it wouldn't hurt. <br />Olson agreed and said it would also be nice for the bikers. <br />Rose asked if it is property that will come off the tax role. <br />Anderson said yes. <br />Kinzie said if there is access to the creek, it is a beautiful piece of property <br />Anderson said he predicts the homes immediately next to the property will <br />oppose the idea of the city using the property for park purposes but the homes <br />further away will be in favor of it. <br />MOTION BY OLSON, SECONDED BY OCEL, TO SCHEDULE AN INITIAL <br />MEETING WITH THE NEIGHBORS IN THE AREA OF THE RICE CREEK <br />PROPERTY TO SEE WHAT RESPONSE THERE IS TO A PARK ON THAT <br />PROPERTY. <br />Anderson asked when the Park Board wanted to schedule the meeting. <br />Olson suggested February. <br />
