September 4, 1991 Park Board Minutes
Anderson stated trees were planted 10 years ago and they will block some of
the sun as they mature.
Gunderman asked if any of the parking lot would be lost.
Anderson said no.
Anderson said part of the path will have to be realigned but that is not a
negative impact.
A resident suggested putting in only three courts if that would help to have
them aligned properly against the sun.
Anderson said it would be a tight fit - he is not sure it could be done. It
would be preferred 3 courts in the right alignment to 4 courts the other
direction.
Gunderman asked what the cost factor would be for 3 courts as opposed to 4.
Anderson said it would not be significant.
Gunderman asked about lighting costs.
Anderson said about one year ago it was about $20,000 to $25,000 for four
courts.
3
Anderson said perhaps two courts could be laid out so the sun is not a problem
and one could go the other way.
Resident, Jackie Mullaney, said she felt the tennis players would want lights.
Anderson said the existing lights have not been working properly and have
been out for some time and have had few complaints.
Eichers said the old configuration of the free skating rink was nice because
you could drive the kids down and put their skates on in the car and they
would have only a short distance to the ice.
Anderson said the new configuration would almost be as close.
Eichers suggested benches.
