JANUARY 3, 1990 PARK BOARD MINUTES
4
Pratt stated he would listen. Regardless of how you see it
there are two acres of land that will have an economic impact.
There is a 15 foot change in elevation. There is a "draw" if
the extra two acres is used as an active park. What would need
to be done to the land to make it an active park? The land
would have to be reshaped in order to put swings in or a ball
field.
Johnson stated we don't automatically plan a park. When the
150 homes go in we would survey the residents and find out
their needs.
Anderson stated that with the new development, a need for a
park becomes crucial. We need additional land because there are
more people. If we are going to have this development, we need
and active area. Play equipment, benches, paths; these kind of
things could be used on that land.
Anderson inquired about the water elevation requirements.
Pratt responded he thought it was 960. He said he knows you
are concerned with the ground above that line.
Anderson said suggested that we not place full value on the un-
developed land around the pond. Think we should give you 500
credit around the pond and cash or land for the remainder.
Van Hatten asked if there is only one retention area for water.
Pratt responded yes. There has been talk of a water tower
somewhere in the area.o-f-the current tower.
Johnson said that we got the whole acreage at Meadow Wood Park
from the developer without cost.
Pratt stated he wanted to hear what the Park Board wanted. He
will try to make it work.
Anderson stated there is nothing magic about having to have a
rectangular piece of property.
Johnson suggested making the entrance to the park easily
accessible so that you don't have to go out on Silver Lake Road
to get to the park.
Eichers stated that with the Harstad development, the park was
in the back yards which made premium lots.
Pratt said that the portion that is short, we can adjust with
cash.
