• Forming asub-committee was suggested and agreed upon. • A notice will be put in the New Brighton Bulletin informing individuals of an informational meeting to be held on Tuesday, February 27th, 6:30 pm at the Family Service Center. Breuer stated she e-mailed the Parks, Recreation and Environmental Commission regarding the Public Safety Commission recommendation to the Council regarding the 12th Ave parking request to have parking by permit only. The Public Safety recommendation to Council reads as follows: Comm. Kelly made a motion to have a 1 year suspension of the Frisbee golf course for the summer of 2007 to let the land rest and have the Parks, Recreation and Environmental Commission review the possibility of a return of Frisbee golf in 2008 in an organized league that would be fee based for both league and pick up play; review a redesign of the course to eliminate the holes at the end of 12`h Ave NW,~ and, review the possibility of constructing a parking area by the well house off of County Road E. Comm. Elwell seconded; motion carried. Their recommendation will go to Council on February 13th. Breuer stated she would like to keep the disc golf course open. We are doing what we can to help the erosion and keep the course playable but we don't want to put money into a course that could potentially be shut down. The disc golf is a nice amenity as is the skateboard park and playground area which we do not charge fees far. Some Commission members expressed frustration with the motion that the Public Safety Commission made to the Council without the Parks, Recreation and Environmental Commission input. Now there is only a short window of opportunity to work an this before it goes to the Council. MOTION BY JASKOWIAK, SECONDED BY TREVORROW, THAT WE RECOMMEND TO THE CITY COUNCIL THAT THEY POSTPONE ACTING ON THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE PUBLIC SAFETY COMMISSION UNTIL SUCH TIME AS THIS COMMISSION HAS HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO FORWARD ITS RECOMMENDATION ON THAT SAME PROPOSAL. MOTION CARRIED. VII. Announcements A. Department Happenings Breuer went through the Department Happenings presentation. Inquiry was made about the petition by some FSC members to change the morning opening time. Breuer explained that it came about because a staff member was opening earlier than our stated hours to satisfy some members. Far the safety of all, the Parks and Recreation Department is recommending that we keep our hours as stated at 6:OOam. We gathered data for the Council, on hours of operation, and fee schedules far other area local fitness centers and community centers. VIII.
