<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />April 22, 1986 <br /> <br />Brandt stated councilmembers were considering all of the applica- <br />tions currently before the council which have been presented in <br />1986 and that there are three applicants being considered; and <br />agreed that Steve Jensen would be an excellent choice because of <br />his period of involvement in other areas of community volunteer <br />work, giving him a good background and the ability to step in <br />right away. <br /> <br />Benke stated he has talked with Jensen who had expressed a <br />continued interest in serving on the Planning Commission and did <br />stop by City Hall to renew that interest; stated the reason for <br />not advertising was that the Planning Commission at their next <br />meeting will be starting the Comprehensive Review process and <br />they felt the need to fill the vacancy quickly and we did have <br />qualified applicants from which to chose. <br /> <br />Williams concurred. <br /> <br />4 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried <br /> <br />Announcements and Updates <br /> <br />Sinda announced meetings at 10:00 a.m. with Senator Novak <br />and at 10:30 a.m. with Attorney General Humphrey on Thursday, <br />April 24, 1986; stating Schmidt, Benke, and himself would be <br />attending and encouraged other councilmembers to attend if <br />they were able to do so. <br /> <br />Locke distributed the 1985 Building Permits' Report. <br /> <br />Benke announced that on Thursday evening there will be a meeting <br />of the North Suburban Mayors' Group that is concerned about <br />attracting development to the north suburbs; Sinda and himself <br />will be attending, all are welcome. <br /> <br />Benke also announced a meeting on Thursday at both 2:00 and 7:00 <br />p.m. on the Community Development Block Grant proposal process; <br />as he would be at the other meeting, encourage councilmembers to <br />attend. <br /> <br />Sinda stated they will be discussing what needs to be done to <br />apply; he is aware of three projects in our city (shopping center <br />across from City Hall, transportation for the elderly and handi- <br />capped, and moving the depot to Long Lake Regional Park). <br /> <br />Schmidt questioned the amount of funds available; Sinda indicated <br />$900 thousand was the total available, the maximum grant is $250 <br />thousand being matched on a one-third basis. <br /> <br />Benke stated he received a letter stating Charles Kuralt is in <br />Russia and will respond to Benke's letter upon his return. <br /> <br />Page Thirteen <br /> <br />Announcements and <br />Updates <br /> <br />Meetings with Novak <br />Attorney General <br />Humphrey <br /> <br />1985 Building <br />Permits' Report <br /> <br />North Suburban <br />Mayors' Group Mtg. <br /> <br />CDBG proposal process <br />meeting <br /> <br />Kuralt response <br />
