Motion Carried Kreuger showed council a letter from Tom Thumb requesting that their request for a special use permit be continued until May 28. 1985. as there were some adjustments to the site plan they would be making. Krueger stated that Dean Lewis. Pump and Meter Company. was present to answer questions. Krueger outlined options for council: approve special use permit, deny special use permit. continue the consideration of the special use permit until May 28. 1985, as requested by Tom Thumb. or send the request back to the Planning Commission for their review of the drawings of the new site plan. Dean Lewis stated he had previously been unaware that Tom Thumb owned the land west of their present store and they would like additional time to alter their plans to relocate the gasoline pumps on the site plan; asked for continuance until May 28. 1985. I Harcus felt that nothing significant had changed since their request in 1983; feels no reason to continue the re- quest; noted the neighborhood is pretty adamant about the installation of gas pumps. , Motion by Harcus, seconded by Janecek. to WAIVE THE READING AND ADOPT A RESOLUTION MAKING FINDINGS OF FACT AND DENYING SP- 121 . Janecek also expressed her feeling that nothing has changed and that her comments would be the same as in 1983. I Benke stated his conclusion also is the same as it was a few years ago; doesn't feel that a redrawing of the plan would change the prospective of the situation; would be willing to review a new site plan if Tom Thumb wanted to spend the money and perhaps show us something different. Lewis stated that the gas pumps on the new site plan would be located 50-75 feet west of the present plan and that Tom Thumb is willing to spend the money to proceed with the new plans. Schmidt indicated all businesses should be treated equally and fairly; if this was another location it would receive the same treatment as other businessess have received in terms of permits. The site itself and other constraints are what the council and neighbors living in the area have ob- jected to in the past. As the traffic is still there and would have the same impact (if not more at this time). relo- cating the pump locations would not affect his judgement as to whether or not this permit is appropriate for that loca- tion.
