Cound 1 Mi nutes April 23, 1985 I Proper had nothing further to add to the staff report con- cerning the installation of yield signs on Sixth Street N.W. approachi ng 12th Avenue N. ~J. Motion by Harcus, seconded by Schmidt, to WAIVE THE READING AND ADOPT A RESOLUTION ORDERING THE INSTALLATION OF YIELD SIGt5 ON SIXTH STREET N.W. APPROACHING 12TH AVENUE N.W. Benke noted that he attended the neighborhood meeting; Maurie Anderson. Park and Recreation Director, was going to meet with the baseball/softball team captains to alert them to our concerns and that if the problem persists, we will not schedule games on the fields in question. Since the meeting the hedge on the corner has been trimmed hence im- proving visibility. Feels the addition of yield signs may be an answer to other visibility problems. 5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried Proper had nothing further to add to the staff report con- cerning the preliminary feasibility study on rehabilitation of streets in the old town residential area. I Harcus noted he liked the idea Benke proposed to have an informational hearing; feels it's easier to address the problem with the council and the residents when there will be no action by council. Proper indicated before an informational meeting he would like to check out the water system more thoroughly and receive authorization to do the soil borings to refine the estimates. Motion by Har4us, seconded by Blomquist. to POSTPONE THE REHABILITATION OF THE STREETS IN THE OLD TOWN AREA OF NEW BRIGHTON TO 1986; AUTHORIZE THE COMPLETE FEASIBILITY STUDY FOR THE PROJECT: AUTHORIZE SOIL TESTING WORK FOR STREET SECTION DESIGN PURPOSES: AND TO HOLD AN INFORMATIONAL MEET- ING EARLY THIS SUMMER. 5 Ayes - 0 Nayes. Motion Carried Winkels advised council that although he did not attend the meeting concerning community services for adults and children. he did volunteer to serve on the committee. He stated he would keep the council information in the event a Task Force needed to be formed. I Harcusnoted that most of the concerned people would be using public transportation and wondered how they would fare in New Brighton.
