<br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />July 23, 1985 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />For the audience, Harcus reviewed the staff report stating this <br />public hearing was for the Skillman Corporation's $5.6 million <br />office/showroom project, New Brighton Inns, Inc. 's $9.0 million <br />hotel, and Hal-Fics, Inc. 's $5 million project for a hotel. <br /> <br />As there were no questions or comments from the general public, <br />Harcus moved, seconded by Janecek, to CLOSE THE PUBLIC HEARING. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried <br /> <br />Motion by Schmidt, seconded by Janecek: <br /> <br />1. TO WAIVE THE READING AND ADOPT A RESOLUTION GRANTING PRELIM- <br />INARY APPROVAL TO THE APPLICATIONS OF THE SKILLMAN CORPORA- <br />TION ($5.0 Million), HAL-FICS, INC. ($5.0 Million), AND NEW <br />BRIGHTON INNS, INC. $9.0 Million) FOR INDUSTRIAL REVENUE <br />BONDS; <br />2. TO ADVISE THE APPLICANTS THAT NO FINAL DETERMINATION OF THE <br />CITY'S ALLOCATION HAS BEEN GRANTED; AND <br />3. THAT THE HIGHEST PRIORITY PROJECT IS THE NEW BRIGHTON INNS, <br />INC. 'S PROJECT. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Lowell Ainas, Milo Architects, architect for New Brighton Inns, Inc., <br />reviewed the preliminary design of the hotel stating there will be: <br />nine stories, the top two of which would be residential suites; a <br />first-class dining room; high energy entertainment facility with a <br />lobby bar; an atrium with an east/west access; 26-30 suites; meet- <br />ing rooms; and a swimming pool. <br /> <br />Harcus stated the drawings were very impressive. <br /> <br />Benke asked when the project's groundbreaking was scheduled. <br /> <br />Keith Harstad, applicant, stated he felt the final drawings would <br />be ready in a month and, as soon as it was done and bids received, <br />construction could begin; but it will take awhile before final <br />areements are completed. <br /> <br />5 Ayes ~ 0 Nayes, Motion Carried <br /> <br />Sinda recommended the public hearing be continued until the next <br />council meeting, noting there is some movement on the part of the <br />app 1 i cant. <br /> <br />Motion by Benke, seconded by Blomquist, to CONTINUE THE PUBLIC <br />HEARING OF APPLICATION FOR INDUSTRIAL REVENUE BONDS FOR BILL <br />HENNING COMPANY UNTIL AUGUST 13, 1985. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried <br /> <br />Krueger reviewed staff report concerning the vacation of a <br />portion of Cleveland Avenue along Fifth Avenue N.W. <br /> <br />As there were no questions or comments from the public, Harcus <br />moved. seconded by Janecek, to CLOSE THE PUBLIC HEARING. <br /> <br />Page Three <br /> <br />IRS Applica- <br />tion.
