Harcus believes decrease is
due to public relations (Crime Watch program) and
training.

I

Blomquist stated the Report was impressive.

Benke felt the one disturbing part of the report was
the note on the two pedestrian fatal Hies; suggested the
need to emphasize speed control and hazardous driving
enforcement. These two deaths ,whether or not speed-
related, indicates traffic safety is an ever present
problem.

Public HeariT19

Winkels stated the report indicates that the public hearing
is required by the grant application guidelines to enable
residents to speak out on any needs they woul d percei ve of
the City of New Brighton; suggested council adopt a resolu-
tion authorizing staff to make an application to the Small
Cities Grant Program for a grant for construction of a new
well following the public hearing.

Harcus stated that, even though Vie have written articles fot
the newspaper and city newsletter, people are still buying
bottled water and that many questions stili remain regarding
the contamination problem.

I

Blomquist feels we need to continue exposure, reinforcing
and explaining the water situation. Blomquist stated we
have been very diligent in trying to resolve this matter.

Harcus commented that the new well is very much needed for
capacity to provide a sufficient supply of non-contaminated
water.

Benke stated lie understood the process, but bel ieves we
could provide a special edition of a "reinforcement" to all
of the real estate offices in town to be given to prospective
residents, and for thei r staffs to be sure they are not
propagating false information.

Page Three

Rezoning Request -
Palmer Drive
Report 85-24

Police Activity
Report - Year-End
Summary 1984
Report 85-25

Public Hearing

MN Small Cities
Development
Program Grant
Application
Report 85-22
7:40-7:46 p.m.
Resolution aJ-12
