<br />Council Mi nutes <br />January 22. 1985 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Schmidt indicated we did have several studies done of the <br />water to inform residents of the situation. <br /> <br />Janecek commented she has been hearing questions about how <br />the Nater problem in New Brighton is affecting the real <br />estate values. <br /> <br />Harcus asked for comments from the audience. As there were <br />none. Harcus moved. seconded by Blomquist, to CLOSE THE <br />PUBLIC HEARING. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes. Motion Carried <br /> <br />Motion by Benke, seconded by Janecek, to ADOPT A RESOLUTION <br />MAKING APPLICATION FOR A MINNESOTA SMALL CITIES DEVELOPMENT <br />GRANT TITLED CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW WELL. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried <br /> <br />Sinda had nothing further to add to the staff report. <br /> <br />Harcus stated he had no problem with the Police Chief <br />monitoring Minnesota's Charitable Gambling Control Board's <br />notices to the City of New Brighton informing us of appli- <br />cations for a charitable gambling license. <br /> <br />Motion by Harcus, seconded by Schmidt, THAT WHEN THE CHARITABLE <br />GAMBLING CONTROL BOARD GIVES NOTICE TO THE CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br />THAT THERE IS A REQUEST FOR A CHARITABLE GAMBLING LICENSE, THE <br />POLICE CHIEF HAVE AUTHORITY TO REVIEW THE RECEIVED NOTICE AND <br />TO SIGN-OFF AFTER HE IS SATISFIED THAT THE CITY HAS NO OBJECTIONS <br />TO THAT CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION BEING LICENSED; AND, IF THE <br />POLICE CHIEF fEELS THERE IS A PROBLEM, HE WILL DISCUSS IT WITH <br />THE COUNCIL AND SEEK A RESOLUTION ASKING THAT IT BE DISALLOWED. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried <br /> <br />Egan had nothing further to add to the staff report concern- <br />ing the proposed revisions to the City's purchasing procedures. <br />Egan introduced Rick Poston, member of the Financial Policy <br />Advisory Board, who made a presentation to the council in <br />which he noted the suggested changes to the current Adminis- <br />trative Code. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Schmidt asked if the Board had looked at the possibility of <br />establishing certain accounts with certain vendors (prime <br />vendors) to purchase large quantities at favorable discounts. <br /> <br />Harcus noted that our Fire Department is going through a joint <br />purchasing plan. <br /> <br />Page Four <br /> <br />Charitable Gambling <br />Licenses <br />Re port 85.,26 <br /> <br />Administrative Code <br />Amendment - <br />Purchasing <br />Report 85-27 <br />
