I

I

I

Council Minutes
March 27, 1984

Esget again expressed concern of speed problem
(mail boxes are constantly knocked down, lost a
telephone pole) coming down hill, around curve
and no stop sign.

Benke stated that he had not been made aware of
the problem on that particular street, and that
the Council is sympathtic to the problem. He
asked the residents who they have talked to with
regard to this problem.

Chief Holmes had been continually called; Friday
and Saturday night is especially bad and no pOlice
are around.

Benke stated that we do have a new chief and
suggested the residents contact him.

Muta Paulson, 1192 Pike Lake Drive, asked if the
bituminous would be thick like on the highways.
Proper indicated the layer would vary in thickness
from 1~1_4." She indicated that the tar and rock
which had been used previously, was not adequate.

Mayor Harcus entered into the minutes a letter he
received from Arlyn D. Gunderman, 1203 Highview
Drive, supporting the improvements.

As there were no further comments, a motion was
made by Harcus and seconded by Janecek to close
the public hearing.

5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried

Motion by Schmidt, seconded by Janecek, to adopt a
resolution ORDERING THE IMPROVEMENT, AUTHORIZING THE
PREPARATION OF SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE REHABILITATION
OF STREETS IN THE PIKE LAKE AREA, PROJECT 84-1.

Schmidt corrmented that he was glad Councilmen Benke
and Blomquist had arrived, and expressed his sensi-
tivity to the citizens' concern about traffic but
suggested that pot holes were not an appropriate
traffic control/speed control measure. Based on
engineering judgment and listening to the citizens'
concerns, the Council would make a decision.

Benke asked the audience, putting aside the speed-
ing and traffic, if they would agree to the project.
The consensus was, Yes.

Benke then asked the audience if they would like to
have the Special Assessment this year or next year.
The consensus was to have it this year to save one
year of interest.

Page Five

. ~
