I

I

I

Council Minutes
June 12,1984

Harcus commended the Citizen Study Committee members for
the amount of time they spent on this project reviewing
other City Halls and visiting staff.

Benke stated he had a lot of questions regarding the
comments and the space requirements, would be uncomfortable
proceeding with the plans based on what he has seen.

Schmidt also commended the Committee; feels we should have
a work session to hear the basis for their recommendation;
questioned value on existing building, resale options, etc.
Would like to weigh remodeling versus new building.

Benke noted that the cost of the site was not included in
the cost of a new building.

Blomquist vouched for the hard work the Committee put in;
thinks the work session is in order to look at the strategy
as to how this project can be accomplished. As about one-
third of the recommended space is for police services,
perhaps the project should be titled Police Expansion.

Janecek agreed with the work session and asked if there
were some preliminary sketches that could be reviewed.
Architect Bob Pierce, Lindberg Pierce, Inc., stated that
his firm was charged to first prepare a space study and
from there they will delineate the space.

Harcus agreed to the work session and would like to have
the debt cost and the impact on the taxes prepared in
advance of the meeting; policy decisions will have to be
determi ned.

Schmidt would like survey of other communities police
services and how they relate to school personnel, etc.
for the work session.

Motion by Schmidt, seconded by Janecek, to HOLD A SPECIAL
WORK SESSION AT 7:30 P.M., TUESDAY, JUNE 19, 1984 AT
BRANDYWINE'S NORTH ROOM WITH THE CITY COUNCIL AND THE
CITIZEN STUDY COMMITTEE.

5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Mot ion Ca rri ed

Sinda had nothing to add to the staff report concerning
the requirements of Stockyard Days, Inc. for the 1984
celebration.

Joyce Kloncz, President of Stockyard Days, Inc.,
reviewed their letter listing various requirements.
Has discussed various requirements with those involved
and there appears to be no problems. Kloncz noted that
a VIP run will be held on Friday, June 22, 1984 at
6: 30 p.m. and that the City will recei ve a number of
free tickets. Posters will be placed around town;

Page Four

Stockyard Days, Inc.,
Requirements for 1984
Report 84-150
