<br />I <br /> <br />City of New Brighton <br />October 25, 1983 <br />Page Four <br /> <br />The City Engineer reviewed t~e staff report <br />regarding renovation of the downtown street <br />lighting system. <br /> <br />Consideration of <br />Renovation of <br />Downtown Street <br />Lighting-Report <br />#83-274 <br /> <br />Councilmember Schmidt requested input from <br />the Director of Community Development as <br />to which type of lights he felt would fit in <br />with the downtown development. He further <br />stated that if the City went ahead with the <br />proposal at this time energy savings would be <br />immediate and the cost of the lights would <br />be reimbursed to the City later through <br />tax increment when development occurred. <br /> <br />The Director of Community Development stated <br />that Councilmember Schmidt's comments were <br />correct and that he would probably choose the <br />decorative or I.T.T. lights. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Councilmember Benke questioned whether the less <br />expensive lights could be used now and replaced <br />with the I.T.T. lights when development occurred <br />and at that time could those replaced lights be <br />used somewhere else in the City. <br /> <br />The City Engineer responded that that many lights <br />probably could not be used elsewhere in the City <br />later. <br /> <br />Motion by Benke, seconded by Janecek to: <br /> <br />1. Authorize the purchase and installation of 35 <br />150 watt H.P.S. luminaires, G.E. M-250R at $80 <br />each. <br />2. Authorize the replacement of the three metal pole <br />street lights on 10th Street with 3 N.S.P. leased <br />st~eet lights, the metal poles to be used to <br />replace missing and damaged poles on 8th Avenue. <br />3. To authorize the cleaning and painting of the <br />metal street light poles using a Statuary Bronze <br />color. <br />4. To authorize the preparation of an interfund loan <br />to Street Light budget for the November 9, 1983, <br />Council meeting. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />The City Engineer had nothing to add to the <br />staff report. <br /> <br />Feasibility Study <br />Project #83-15 <br />Report #83-275 <br /> <br />Motion by Harcus, seconded by Blomquist to set <br />a public hearing on the Engineering Feasibility <br />Study, Project #83-15, Installation of Sanitary <br />
