<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />city of New Brighton <br />July 12, 1983 <br />Page Three <br /> <br />from playground equipment fund of the 1983 C.I.P. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />Counci1member Schmidt stated that a number of <br />people indicated that the celebration was <br />great but that he did have some concerns for <br />the costs incurred by the City and hoped that <br />the staff and Stockyard Days officers would include <br />in their plans for next year the recruiting of <br />more volunteers to take on the duties provided <br />by the City employees. <br /> <br />Counci1member Benke was concerned with the number <br />of police officers that were present during the <br />celebration adding that he questioned whether the <br />celebration was orderly because they were there <br />or if the number of officers could be decreased <br />next year. <br /> <br />The Liquor Director stated that the celebration <br />was a money making venture for the City's down- <br />town operation. <br /> <br />Counci1member Benke stated that the celebration <br />was worthwhile and initiated a growing community <br />celebration, and a significant attraction to the <br />City. He further stated that the benefits were <br />worth more than the costs. <br /> <br />The City Engineer reviewed the staff report <br />regarding bids for project 83-8 concrete <br />street repair. <br /> <br />Motion by Janecek, seconded by Benke to <br />adopt a RESOLUTION AWARDING BIDS FOR IMPROVEMENT <br />PROJECT 83-3, CONCRETE STREET REPAIR to Concrete <br />Curb Company the low bidder in the amount of <br />$73,617.80. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />The City Engineer reviewed the dates for the <br />1983 Special Assessment Hearings. <br /> <br />Motion by Harcus, seconded by Blomquist to <br />change the regularly scheduled Council meeting <br />of August 9, to August 16, 1983 and hold the <br />assessment hearings at that time. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />Stockyard Days <br />City Costs <br />Report #83-181 <br /> <br />project 83-8 <br />Concrete Street <br />Repair-RESOLUTION <br />#83-85 <br />Report #83-174 <br /> <br />Special Assessment <br />Hearings <br />
