Floating holidays do not carry <br />over to the next year and therefore, must be used by December 31. <br /> <br />Sec. 21-55. Group Insurance Plan. <br /> <br />Group health and life insurance plans may be provided for eligible City employees and their <br />dependents in accordance with the provisions of this Section. <br /> <br />(1) The total monthly premium for participating employees shall be paid in accordance with the <br />provisions ofthe pay plan resolution. <br /> <br />(2) The date of eligibility for group health and life insurance shall coincide with the coverage <br />provided by the City. <br /> <br /> <br />(3) An employee may elect to continue group health and life insurance coverage while on leave <br />of absence without pay. The entire cost of the continued insurance shall be paid by the <br />employee in advance of the date that payment is due to the insurance carrier. <br /> <br />(4) An employee may continue any individual or dependent health insurance coverage for a <br />time set by Minnesota Statutes. The terminating employee shall pay the entire cost of the <br />insurance continuation. <br /> <br />Sec. 21-56. Accrual of Leave Benefits. <br /> <br />(1) For the purpose of accumulating vacation or sick leave, an employee shall be considered to <br />be working when: using earned vacation leave or sick leave, using injured-on-duty benefits, on <br />jury duty, on holiday leave, or on military leave in accordance with Minnesota Statutes, Section <br />192.26. <br /> <br />(2) An employee who is absent without leave, laid off, under suspension, or on a leave of <br />absence without pay shall not be considered to be working for the purpose of accumulating <br />vacation or sick leave. <br /> <br />(3) A regular employee working less than the standard forty hours per week shall accrue <br />vacation, holidays, group insurance, and sick leave in direct proportion to the actual hours <br />worked. <br /> <br />(4) A regular patHime employee shall accrue vacation, holidays, and sick leave at one-half the <br />rate of a regular employee. The maximum accruals and termination benefits for a regular part- <br />time employee shall also be at one-half the rate of a regular employee. <br /> <br />Sees. 21-57--21-63. Reserved. <br />
