No. 477 ~ II, 1-27-81) <br /> <br />.:; <br />" <br />, <br /> <br />I (b) Requests <br /> <br />(c) <br />ji <br /> <br />;:: <br /> <br />Vacation leave must be requested at least forty-eight (48) <br />hours in advance and is subject to approval by the depart- <br />ment head. Vacation leave may be denied temporarily in an, <br />emergency or when granting of vacation would result inl <br />insufficient manpower to carry out City functions. The Cityl <br />Manager shall make the final determination of any questions <br />regarding vacation leave. I <br /> <br />Accrual Limited I <br /> <br />No more than twenty (20) days of vacation leave may bel <br />accrued unless an extended accrual is requested from the city' <br />Manager. Such extended accrual request must be made in <br />writing and must explain fully the reason for such extended <br />accrual. The request must be for a specific vacation pur-; <br />pose, must not seriously affect the City's ability tol <br />operate, and may not exceed an additional twenty (20) days. I <br /> <br />(d) <br /> <br />Purpose May Not Be Waived <br /> <br />Vacation leave is intended as a period of rest and relaxation' <br />and may not be waived by an employee for any purpose, includ- <br />ing receiving double pay. <br /> <br />Section 2l-65. Other Leaves of Absence with Pay <br /> <br />Any regular or probationary employee who is required to serve as a <br />juror or who is under subpoena as a witness in court related to <br />city business, shall be granted leave with pay while serving in <br />such capacity. Upon completion of jury service, the employee <br />shall exhibit the jury check received to the Finance Director and <br />the amount received, less the amount received for traveling <br />expenses, shall be deducted from the employee's next regular pay <br />check. I <br />j <br />The City Manager may authorize other leaves of absence with pay <br />when in the interest of the employee and also the City. <br /> <br />Section 21-66. Unpaid Leave <br /> <br />Any requests for leave without pay shall be made in writing to the <br />department head, then approved by the City Manager, taking into <br />account relevant factors including, but not limited to, the <br />following: <br /> <br />(a) Service needs of the City. <br /> <br />I (b) Performance record of the employee. <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />! <br />A leave of absence shall not exceed a period of ninety (90) cal-I' <br />eodar days. An extension may be granted by the City Manager" <br />after conferring with the department head, if the total Unpaid!' <br />leave does not exceed 180 calendar days except when the employee <br />is detailed for military service or is disabled, provided that th~ <br />:disability was incurred on the job.
